We are on our second year of implementing PBIS across all grade levels, establishing a school-wide system of positive intervention strategies for all students, in all settings of the school environment. You've probably noticed dozens of butterflies have found a home in our school. With the acronym SOAR we will be teaching our students how to stay Safe, On task, Act kind, caring and respectfully, and be Responsible. Students will be given butterfly tickets at any point during their school days, by any member of the Clough staff, and this year, the students will bring the butterflies home to be shared with you, and tickets will be kept in the classroom to enter a contest, and we might be elected for a bigger price! In the classroom, the campers learn the routines by practicing, celebrating their accomplishments, and receiving positive reinforcement with Class Dojo points and messages to you families about the important work they are doing. They also learn about the Zones of Regulation, and how in order to be ready to listen, learn, and collaborate, they need to be in the green zone, where they feel calm, safe, positive, and focused. Our campers learn what to do if they are not in the green zone, and how to help each other get there. Finally, our scientists learn about how their brains work, how to breathe, how to pay attention, and how to relax, with calming mindfulness exercises, yoga stretches, readings, and activities.
